Who we are

Adam Reviews Film is a personal film review website operated by Adam Courtliff. Adam Courtliff is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to run the website, respond to people and send the Weekly Watchlist newsletter.

When you visit the website

Our hosting and security services may record your IP address, browser and device information, the page requested, referring page, and the date and time of the request. If you consent to analytics cookies, Google Analytics also collects information about how you use the website, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type and interactions.

When you use the contact form

We collect your name, email address and message. The form also uses technical information and spam checks to protect the website from abuse.

When you subscribe to the Weekly Watchlist

We collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. MailerLite also keeps the subscription record and may record delivery, opening and link-click information so we can operate and improve the newsletter.

When you leave a comment

We collect the name, email address and comment you submit, together with your IP address and browser user-agent string to help detect spam. Your name and comment may be published on the website after moderation. Your email address is not published.

Why we use your information

To provide and secure the website: our legitimate interests in operating a reliable and secure website, preventing spam and investigating misuse.
To answer enquiries: our legitimate interests in responding to messages, or taking steps at your request before entering into an arrangement.
To publish and moderate comments: our legitimate interests in enabling discussion and protecting the website and its readers.
To send the Weekly Watchlist: your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
To measure use of the website: your consent to optional analytics cookies. You can reject or withdraw that consent through Cookie Preferences.
To meet legal obligations and protect legal rights: where processing is required by law or necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Who receives your information

We use service providers only where needed to operate the website:

Hostinger, for website hosting and content delivery.
MailerLite, for newsletter subscriptions, delivery and newsletter reporting.
Google, for Google Analytics and for receiving and storing contact emails in Gmail.
Brevo, for transmitting emails sent by the website.
Akismet and Automattic, for spam detection where that service is applied to a submission.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or where necessary to protect our rights or the rights of others. We do not sell your personal information.

International transfers

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data protection law requires it, we rely on an adequacy regulation or approved contractual safeguards designed to protect the information.

How long we keep information

Contact enquiries: normally for up to 24 months after the last correspondence, unless they are needed longer for legal, accounting or security reasons.
Newsletter records: until you unsubscribe. We may then retain the minimum information needed to record and honour your opt-out.
Comments: for as long as the comment remains relevant to the website, unless a valid deletion request applies or retention is needed for legal or security reasons.
Server and security logs: only for as long as reasonably needed to operate and secure the website, or longer where a specific incident is being investigated.
Analytics information: according to the retention controls in the Google Analytics account. Analytics cookies on your device may remain for up to two years unless you delete them sooner.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a portable copy. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. These rights are not absolute and exemptions may apply.

The website is not directed at children under 13, and children under 13 should not submit personal information through the website.
